Comporta, the imprint of a living material.

To start 2026, we are enriching our Panbeton® collection with Comporta, a new pattern created by designer Jean-Baptiste Fastrez. In line with our commitment to designer collaborations, this creation explores an innovative fusion of straw and concrete, resulting in a decorative surface that is both natural and contemporary.

Straw as an inspiration

Comporta reinterprets the codes of traditional concrete. The pattern evokes both the lightness and movement of straw, creating a play of contrasts between mineral and organic, soft and solid. For Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, straw represents a material that is both raw and sophisticated, depending on its use from traditional roofing to Japanese tatami mats.

Artisanal and innovative craftsmanship

To ring Comporta to life. We collaborated closely with Jean-Baptiste Fastrez and our workshops. After carefully selecting the most suitable types of straw, we constructed a unique straw wall and captured its texture to reproduce on our Panbeton® panels. The result is a surface that combines realism and poetry, whilst remaining fully scalable for series production.

An invitation to embark on a journey

The pattern is named in tribute to Comporta, a fishing village in Portugal’s Alentejo region, cherished by the designer. Amid dunes, rice fields, and traditional straw structures, the village embodies the spirit of the project: a stationary journey, a subtle sense of escape within interior and communal spaces. Offered in 20 colours, Comporta adapts effortlessly to any project, from cozy interiors to hospitality and reception spaces.
