Louvre Museum Bookshop

Located between the Louvre Museum and the Carrousel, the museum bookshop lacked visibility despite its prime location. The redesign aimed to restore its prominence by clearly reinforcing its connection to the Louvre's identity.

In collaboration with the GrandPalaisRmn, Studio 5.5 designed a space that reflects the institution's standards and visual identity. The furniture extends the architectural language envisioned by Ieoh Ming Pei, creating a dialogue with the museum's distinctive character.

Oberflex's Antifingerprint Black 009 panels became the project's defining feature. Elegant and understated, they naturally integrate the bookshop into the visitor experience. The black finish recedes into the background, allowing the books and curated objects to take centre stage while bringing clarity, coherence, and sophistication to the retail space.
